This is one of the most frequently asked questions asked by our couples and a very important consideration when choosing a wedding venue.
We are very fortunate that we have such picturesque surroundings here at The Wellbeing Farm and I would confidently estimate that around 95% of our couples chose to spend time outside during their wedding, come rain or shine. We recently had Bolton Ukulele Group performing around our outside fire pit to wedding guests wrapped in our blankets during a chilly Autumn evening, and we’ve had a bus load of guests (literally!) turn up for a Springtime wedding all wearing their wellies – now that was an extraordinary sight! That said, whilst you can do your utmost as a couple with your guests to embrace the British weather system, when it comes to rain, we understand you need a backup. A good one at that.
The reality is if you chose to have your ceremony in our Wedding Barn, at the conclusion we then need a short period of time (around 90 minutes) for Team Wellbeing to transform the room for your wedding breakfast (we prefer to call it a wedding feast!)
That’s why we have the Wheatsheaf Bar. Couples visiting for the first time don’t always realise that there is more to The Wellbeing Farm than just The Wedding Barn. But there is! The Wheatsheaf Bar is a hidden gem where your drinks reception will take place. It provides a large enough area for your guests to gather and mingle after your wedding ceremony before you enter the Wedding Barn for your wedding feast. In the winter think of a cosy snug filled with twinkly lit trees; a roaring wood burner, comfy sofas with homely cushions and a bar containing a bespoke selection of drinks. It really does become a toasty cold weather hideout with a whimsical woodland feel. Come summer, you still have exclusive use of the Wheatsheaf Bar, only now the large panelled French doors are opened merging the inside and outside aspects together meaning you get the best out of both worlds, creating shade for young children and comfy chairs for those elderly relatives (for when the excitement gets just a little too much…..!)
A few other practical considerations – the Wheatsheaf Bar has its own sound system for your background music, which can also be played outside during your drinks reception. We also have a mounted TV for you to play any videos or photographs via USB, and full facilities for your guests including a disabled toilet and baby changing area. Don’t forget next to the Wheatsheaf Bar is our authentic Indian Tipi – which also provides additional shelter from the rain! Adorned with fairy lights, a Kadai fire bowl and cosy cushions, it creates yet another dimension of excitement for your guests to revel in!
Finally – the pièce de résistance, our new Wooden Pavilion with cosy cushioned benches and heating providing the perfect opportunity for you as a couple to escape from your guests for a moment to yourselves.
We really do think we have ticked the box for a dependable weather proof solution that will alleviate any concerns you may have about the ‘great’ British weather!
Now for the exciting bit. As with everything we do here at the Farm we are constantly striving to improve our facilities. This is one thing that our couples often comment upon; they never know what is coming next and they just love watching us grow and improve as much we love implementing all our crazy ideas! Next for the Wheatsheaf Bar in January 2018 is a new extended bar area; we plan to knock through an existing wall opening up the room even more than it already is. If that isn’t enough, we are then having some extendable awnings installed over the top of the existing panelled doors. This means that even if it did rain on a lovely summer’s day (a sign of good luck after all!) you can still make the most of being outside and enjoying the breath-taking views under the comfort and shield of an extendable awning– and likewise in the winter with the added comfort of some super stylish outdoor heaters!
We really hope that answers the question ‘what happens if it rains on my wedding day?’ but if there is anything else at all you would like to know, please do contact one of the Wedding Coordinators here at The Wellbeing Farm who will happily assist.
