How to Have a Hygge Wedding

Want to add a bit of ‘hygge’ to your wedding? Don’t know what ‘hygge’ is? This blog’s got you covered either way!

First off, let’s introduce you to hygge. It’s pronounced “hoo-gah”, it’s a Danish concept, and it may have a lot to do with why they have been crowned the happiest country on the planet! There’s no English word for hygge, and it’s quite difficult to translate, but from the mouths (or keyboards) of the Danes themselves over at visitdenmark.co.uk, ‘In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people.’ Doesn’t sound like a bad idea to us!

So, how do you go about creating a Hygge wedding? It looks like there are three steps to us: create a warm atmosphere, enjoy the goods things, and do it all with good people.

Creating a Warm Atmosphere

All of our couples at The Wellbeing Farm have full use of our Prop Store to decorate our wedding barn with. We’d suggest making use of our hessian blankets, hay bales, and rustic lighting, to create a simple, but cosy, comfortable, hygge setting.

The location of the Wellbeing Farm also helps when creating a warm atmosphere. We’re located in the picturesque moorlands of Lancashire, our surroundings are beautiful, yet peaceful, and evoke a strong sense of wellbeing. The animals on the farm are friendly and welcoming, you’d have a hard job finding someone who doesn’t feel more at peace when around the animals!

The fact that our wedding barn is fully heated helps, too. Very hygge.

Enjoying the Good Things

Aside from our expansive, and delicious, food menu, we have a selection of tasty treats that can be booked for weddings at The Wellbeing Farm. For those with a sweet tooth, we have a Candy Buffet, a Popcorn Station, a Donut Bar, and an Ice Cream Cart!

Plus, all guests will stay warm with their thirsts quenched, because of our Brew Station, which supplies complimentary hot drinks throughout the whole day. And, if guests fancy speeding up the pace a little bit, we have a variety of entertainment around the farm, such as pedalled go-karts, see-saws, and even tug-of-war!

Plus, we have an extensive range of drinks across the three bars at the farm, and there are a number of ways you can make these drinks that little bit more special. We offer our Wheelie Bar which provides Pimp Your Prosecco, Rum Hut, or Gin Palace!

Good People

Perhaps the most important part of a hygge wedding is that everyone there is pleasant, merry, and ready to enjoy themselves. Unfortunately, we can’t send out your wedding invites for you. But, we can say for sure that our staff will be their usually happy selves on the day of your wedding, and will do everything they can to make sure that you have the perfect hygge wedding day!
