Along with most of our couples, we are continually frustrated about the lack of guidance and clarity coming out of the Government around weddings. We had some relief last week when Pete told me that there has been this Government announcement last Friday that weddings for up to 30 people can finally take place from the 1st August. I do hope this means that we will start seeing weddings back at the farm as I’ve missed our photo opportunities around weddings and fingers crossed we can start returning to the weddings we know and love.
However Celia says the devil is in the detail and at present, the detail doesn’t allow for the style of weddings we are known for – dancing, games, live music, hugs, sharing platters, sweet carts, brew station and much more so we are constantly looking at how we are going to adapt our wedding offer. Most couples I’ll be honest, have postponed their wedding until 2021. We do have a few weddings going ahead in 2020 including Minimonies (minimal ceremonies) and looking at the Government guidance, they are saying there may be fewer restrictions from October which is when we still have some weddings booked!
Love from,
Laurie (the Leaping Llama)
How we adapted during lockdown!
We are doing and learning about everything we can to help and support our couples and what we have done so far is written in this blog – hopefully, you’ll find it useful reading … Click Here!
What happened when we met with the inspector…
We have met with the Registrar’s from Blackburn with Darwen and their Health and Safety Officer who came to inspect our Covid-19 safety arrangements. We expressed our frustration to them about how difficult the situation is for our couples – it would seem they are just as frustrated as us and don’t have any clearer or more advance information even being a Government body! Anyway, we passed the inspection and are good to go and we really look forward to welcoming couples to our farm!

We are proud to be an #Extramile venue!
We’re delighted to have been recognised as an #extramilevenue by @hostvenueconsultancy. Supporting our couples now and always. The gold heart in this image symbolises kindness with the heart of gold emblem’s fragments representing our couples, their guests, suppliers and us the venue!
Our Pivot – Introducing the ‘North West Centre for Business & Team Wellbeing’…
Celia has gone crazy and pivoted the business during lockdown to create this new North West Centre for Business and Team Wellbeing – if you don’t know anything about this, have a read of this
If you need to rebond your team post furlough or develop a new strategic plan post-lockdown, why don’t you book for your company to visit us?

Collaborating to revitalise wellbeing in Lancashire!
We are now part of a collaboration called Wellbeing Lancashire #WellbeingLancashire – A Visionary Alliance to make wellbeing a top priority in Lancashire and we were delighted to host our first physical event post lockdown resulting – the excitement can only be expressed by some of the attendees:
When you meet with people who’ve lived a little, experienced highs, and harrowing lows, yet have come through the other side with an awareness and innate understanding of what needs to be done, egos and agendas aside, to elevate the lives, health, happiness, safety, security, and success of their fellow men, women and children in their home of #lancashire you feel like you’ve “come home”. Matt Gibbs, FIZZiology
We have huge recovery ambitions…
The future is looking bright for our venue. We’ve been selected as one of only 21 businesses in Lancashire to be supported on a fast track growth programme – bookings for 2021 are going through the roof, demand is coming in for mid-week corporate bookings and the future is bright.
Well hopefully things are looking more positive for Christmas – last week we took a booking for a large Christmas party from a local government organisation. Also, we had a clear steer by Boris that There will not be a “significant return to normality” until November at the earliest, and “possibly in time for Christmas.”
We appreciate the talk of second wave Coronavirus is worrying, but also at the same time your staff deserve to be thanked – especially if they’ve been working hard during lockdown. So give them the proper thanks by booking them onto a Christmas Party – rest assured if for some reason the Christmas Parties can’t go ahead, we will help you find alternative ways to celebrate this time with your staff.
The Snug!
We have had so much interest in our new Snug area so here is the finished product! Itis to be used by half of the wedding party to get ready on the morning of the big day (unfortunately it isn’t to be used as a creche or a lounge for looking after elderly relatives)! Your selfies will look amazing against our hand-painted backdrop with a glass of prosecco in hand!
Dates for your 2020 diary…
We’ve made it easier for couples and separated out Open Days from booked and new couples so we can spend more time supporting existing couples when they come to visit – spending more time advising them on the props they’d like to use for their wedding or on table layouts….
If you want to attend one of our Open Days, please click here!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read our update – lets hope for more positive news from the Government the next time we write to you!
