Food & Menus
You have chosen a venue which is different from the norm and that is absolutely the case when it comes to the food served at your wedding.
As we have achieved the highest standards of green business, we try to ensure our menus are fresh and seasonal and the food we source is local. As a result, some dishes on the menus may alter slightly due to the seasonality of the produce.
Quality Food
We are extremely proud to have our own Family Butchers – (Whiteheads Butchers which has been trading for over 130 years). We even rear our own Wheatsheaf Farm lamb. To ensure the quality of the food and to preserve the excellent reputation of Whiteheads Butchers, we provide all the catering and drinks for the farm.
Serve it Generously..
Our formula for wedding food is ‘buy the best quality, cook it simply, serve it generously’. Or put another way, good quality fresh, farm-based Lancashire food served in a quirky laid-back relaxed atmosphere.
Our preference is to offer an informal, social and relaxed service with the main focus being on the food which is placed in the centre of each table.
Guests help themselves and the constant passing of dishes provides an ice-breaking subject and constant talking point throughout the rest of your meal resulting in a more relaxed and sociable atmosphere.
We grow our own edible flowers on the farm to decorate our dishes and with both an indoor and outdoor kitchen, our own hog roast machine and wood-burning pizza oven, we love making our food dramatic as well as delicious.
We can cater for various diets such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc.
If you are not sure what to do for a celebration cake, we make Cheese Celebration Cakes which are imaginatively decorated with edible flowers, fruit and herbs as an alternative option.
To complement the food, we have a competitively priced wine and drinks list where you will find some lovely local delights and a great selection of llama themed wines!
Other than the celebration cake, only food and drinks bought on the premises can be consumed at the farm.
Customers with food allergies..
We have procedures and standards to control contamination and try to separate contaminated products, but we are not a gluten free or free from kitchen. Our Head Chef is trained in Level 4 food hygiene and has undertaken training in food allergies.
Please ask us about food allergies or dietary issues when you are arranging your event.
Wellbeing Menus..
One of the biggest trends is to create wedding and events menus with a more wellbeing touch, especially vegan and gluten-free, especially with a growing awareness of healthy, plant-based and clean eating.
The Future is here..
Beforehand, at a lot of venues, these dietary requirements, which now seem standard, would not be catered for at all; or when they did it is with very little creativity. Take vegan menus for example – they would normally consist of some fresh fruit and plain salad leaves, plus maybe whatever is lurking in the kitchen, with as said before VERY little creativity. How many times must you have had a stuffed mushroom?
NOT ANY MORE!!! – Hallelujah!
Our innovative Head Chef has sourced natural and local produce to create menus for various dietary requirements that are big in both quality and taste – so much so in fact, that you would never suspect that your meal is vegan/gluten free/whatever free…! We use Meatless Farm and Beyond Burger for our meal alternatives and a supplier for bespoke gluten free cakes – our team love them!
As he says: Dietaries are VIPs!
A lot of places, if you’re lucky, may offer A vegan option. We offer a RANGE in EVERY menu – a RANGE of starters, a RANGE of mains and a RANGE of desserts! Speaking of desserts, our Chef in fact went on a course, specialising in vegan desserts…! Now pass me that brownie!!
Ok, now we need to address the big fat elephant in the room – that we own our own Butchers…
Half of the reason for the veganism trend is the treatment of livestock in the meat industry; and we can understand that. However, yes, we may rear animals, but we inspect the rearing of every animal and know the quality of our meat is top-notch. It’s all free range, not shut up in a cage.
While it may be hard to erase over 130 of farming and butchery history, we are trying our hardest to embrace the trend.
