Wedding Worries
Where do I stay and how do I get home?
We are fortunate that The Wellbeing Farm is located in such a beautiful, picturesque rural location set outside the charming village of Edgworth, yet at the same time within good distance from nearby larger towns of Bolton, Ramsbottom and Bury. This means there is a large quantity of local accommodation, from the very popular Last Drop Hotel less than 5 miles away to the Red Hall Hotel in Ramsbottom, alongside a large quantity of boutique bed and breakfast farmhouses closer to The Farm surrounding Edgworth village. We have great links with local taxi firms too.
As well as being blessed with such an array of options for places to stay, we appreciate that often a wedding party are looking for a place to stay at the venue the night before the wedding, and a couple often wish to spend their first night together as a married couple at their venue or in accommodation on the doorstep.
That’s why we have Barons Farm; our exclusive gated Wedding House set in acres of stunning grounds down a winding, private driveway just a stone’s throw away from The Wellbeing Farm.
Now I will be honest, if you are looking for the glitz and glam of a posh upmarket hotel this isn’t for you. Barons Farm is very in keeping with our venue, and can best be described as an old world country house adorned with traditional decoration and a homely feel. Barons Farm is booked out to you exclusively – it has two bedrooms one of which has an en-suite shower room but the owners are so delightful that if you ask them nicely, they will allow extra guests to stay with you on camp beds – perfect for sharing the night before your wedding with your bridesmaids!
The huge, airy lounge area included is a wedding preparation dream! The French doors make you feel like you are getting ready in the middle of an enchanted Disney forest, and the natural light that beams through into the lounge is just perfect for that pre-wedding preparation and every make-up artists fantasy!
There is plenty of room for everyone to gather around; which we think is much better than being cramped in a hotel room with little natural light and air!
The tea will be continually flowing (which I might add served from the best china!) and the owner will don his chauffeur suit and bowler hat ready to transport you and your wedding party to The Wellbeing Farm in his 4×4 if you wish, an offer you will find hard to refuse.
Aside from the traditional furnishings of the old grandfather clock and the quirky patterned carpet, you then also get the most extraordinary outside space. Not only do you get the long and winding driveway, there is a lake (with resident ducks), an overgrown vintage tennis court, steps down to a wood with a babbling brook running through and mature gardens and shrubbery that would make Alan Titchmarsh proud.
We often suggest to couples that if they wanted to return to Barons Farm during their drinks reception with their photographer, they would get some incredible shots. It also gives you a bit of time together as a newly married couple where you can really take a moment to take it all in – the day will just go so quickly!
The owners are quite possibly the most charming couple you will ever meet (fact) and will go the extra mile to make your stay as perfect as possible. Their home cooked English breakfast gives our Chef Karl a run for his money, and they will even treat you on the morning of your wedding with a fridge full of snacks and a bottle of fizz!
At £360.00 (2018 price) for a two night stay (includes exclusive use of the Wedding House, use of both bedrooms, the lounge, access to the grounds and breakfast!) it really is great value for money and with only being just down the road from us, it is one less thing for you to worry about in the lead up to your big day.
