The Wellbeing Farm – Access Statement

Introduction

The Wellbeing Farm, located in Bolton, Lancashire, is a purpose-built wedding and events venue set in the picturesque West Pennine Moors. The farm sits slightly elevated from the adjacent road and has been designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that all visitors, including those with disabilities, can fully enjoy the venue.

Our main entrance, reception, toilets, event space, and a licensed bar are all on the ground floor and accessible via permanent ramps. The Wedding and Events Barn is also located on the ground floor, with step-free entry and a platform lift.

  • The M65 motorway provides good links to Preston, Clitheroe, and Blackburn.
  • The M66 offers excellent connections from Bury.

Car Parking and Arrival

  • Parking areas are clearly signposted, with a 5mph speed limit across the site.
  • Disabled parking is located near the main entrance, with purpose-built wheelchair access.

Main Entrance and Reception

  • The main entrance, reception, and corridors are on the ground floor.
  • The flooring is tiled and non-slip, with wide corridors for ease of movement.
  • The area is well-lit with natural daylight and LED lighting.

Toilet and Shower Facilities

  • Male, female, and fully accessible disabled toilets are located on the ground floor.
  • The disabled toilet includes:

    • A lockable door for privacy
    • Non-slip flooring and bright lighting
    • A shower and baby-changing facilities
    • Grab rails:

      • Horizontal bar on the right and vertical bar on the left (when facing the toilet)
      • Vertical handrail to the right of the sink
    • A British Standard emergency alarm

Wheatsheaf Barn

  • Located on the ground floor, with step-free access from the entrance, reception, toilets, and bar.
  • A permanent ramp with a handrail provides additional accessibility.
  • Well-lit with natural daylight and LED lighting.

Wheatsheaf Bar

  • Step-free access from the main entrance, toilets, and Events Room.
  • Tiled flooring throughout.
  • The toilets are approximately 20 metres from the bar.
  • The bar serves locally sourced food, and we accommodate dietary requirements—please contact us in advance to discuss any specific needs.

Wedding Barn

  • Wide doors allow wheelchair access.
  • A platform lift connects the bar area to the main barn space.
  • A permanent ramp leads from the car park to the Wedding Barn.
  • We encourage event organisers to inform us in advance of any guests needing additional assistance so our team can provide the best support.
  • The disabled toilet in the Wedding Barn follows British Standards and includes:

    • An emergency alarm
    • Baby-changing facilities

Grounds and Gardens

  • The gazebo has stepped access.
  • Our polytunnel and several raised garden beds are wheelchair accessible.
  • The polytunnel path is 1219mm (48 inches) wide with a turning point at the end.
  • Outdoor seating is available throughout the site.
  • Accessible gardening troughs are placed around the venue.
