Our Carbon Pledge
A Commitment to Sustainability
At The Wellbeing Farm, we are on a mission to become one of the UK’s most sustainable, carbon-neutral venues. Our approach isn’t just about reducing our impact – it’s about setting an example, innovating and inspiring others to do the same.
Why it matters
The reality of climate change is undeniable. Businesses have a responsibility to take action, and we are committed to making meaningful changes that protect the planet for future generations. From zero waste initiatives to locally sourced food, renewable energy and community-led projects, sustainability is embedded in everything we do.
Our Commitment to a Greener Future
We have pledged to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2025, and here’s how we’re making it happen:
Renewable Energy
Our wind turbine powers the farm, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Sustainable Sourcing
80% of our food is local, cutting food miles and supporting farmers.
Plastic-Free Future
No single-use plastic straws, stirrers, or bottles, with a 2025 zero-plastic goal.
Circular Economy Approach
We repurpose décor, compost food waste, and reuse leftovers for pet food.
Carbon Offsetting
Every event funds tree planting and supports certified carbon projects.
Eco-Friendly Venue
A rewilded farm with rainwater collection, composting, and zero waste.
Innovation in Sustainable Events
We work with experts to improve our green initiatives.
Our Carbon Reduction Commitments
At The Wellbeing Farm, sustainability isn’t an afterthought—it’s at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2025, and we’ve taken real, measurable steps to get there.
Renewable Energy
We harness the power of natural resources to fuel our operations. Our on-site wind turbine generates clean, renewable energy, significantly reducing our carbon footprint. Any surplus energy is fed back into the National Grid, ensuring nothing goes to waste. By choosing The Wellbeing Farm, you’re celebrating in a venue that actively reduces reliance on fossil fuels and contributes to a greener future.
Sustainable Sourcing
We believe food should nourish both people and the planet. That’s why 80% of our ingredients are sourced locally, supporting Lancashire farmers and independent suppliers. This commitment helps to:
- Reduce food miles, cutting down on transport emissions
- Support local businesses and communities
- Provide seasonal, fresh, and organic ingredients
By choosing a meal at The Wellbeing Farm, you’re enjoying low-carbon, high-quality food that celebrates the best of our region.
Plastic-Free Future
Plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental challenges we face. Since 2017, we’ve been working hard to eliminate single-use plastics, and we aim to be 100% plastic-free by 2025. Steps we’ve taken include:
- Banning plastic straws, stirrers, and disposable cups
- Providing glass water bottles and filtered water stations instead of plastic bottles
- Sourcing biodegradable packaging and tableware
- Using refillable, eco-friendly cleaning products
We continuously review and refine our approach to ensure we are reducing waste wherever possible.
Circular Economy Approach
Rather than disposing of materials, we find innovative ways to repurpose and reuse them. Our circular economy model means:
- The Prop Shed – A treasure trove of pre-loved wedding and event decorations that can be reused and redesigned instead of thrown away
- Food Waste Repurposing – Leftover food is either composted, fed to our resident farm animals, or donated to local charities
- Recycled Materials – We incorporate reclaimed wood, upcycled furniture, and eco-conscious materials into our venue
By adopting waste-conscious systems, we ensure that nothing at The Wellbeing Farm goes to landfill unless absolutely necessary.
Carbon Offsetting
We know that some emissions are unavoidable, so we balance them out through carbon offset initiatives. For every corporate event booking, we plant a tree to counteract emissions. Additionally, we contribute to certified carbon offset programs, ensuring that:
- Trees are planted to absorb carbon dioxide
- Sustainable rewilding projects are supported
- Local biodiversity is protected
Every event at our venue actively contributes to a healthier planet.
Eco-Friendly Venue
From our venue design to our daily operations, every part of The Wellbeing Farm is built with sustainability in mind. Some of our green features include:
- A rewilded farm landscape that provides natural habitats for wildlife
- Rainwater collection for irrigation and washing
- Maximised natural light to reduce electricity use
- Hay bale seating instead of plastic or metal chairs
Everything at our venue has been thoughtfully designed to be both beautiful and environmentally responsible.
Innovation in Sustainable Events
Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. That’s why we work closely with sustainability experts, researchers, and industry leaders to constantly improve our environmental impact. We’ve collaborated with:
- Catherine Weetman – Author of A Circular Economy Handbook, who helped us develop sustainable event planning strategies
- Better Not Stop – A sustainable impact agency supporting our B Corp Certification journey
- The Centre for Global Eco-Innovation – Providing insights on climate-friendly business practices
We are always looking for new and innovative ways to make our events greener – because sustainability is about continuous progress.
Sustainable Events Without Compromise
Sustainability doesn’t mean sacrificing style or fun - it means celebrating responsibly.

Our Carbon Pledge
We’re committed to reaching Net Zero by 2030, reducing emissions, minimising waste and making every event a force for good.
