From a small farm in Lancashire to the BAFTA stage, The Wellbeing Farm’s journey shows what’s possible when purpose drives profit. As a proudly sustainable venue, we’ve spent years proving that hospitality can be joyful, ethical, and environmentally responsible—all at once. Our story isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about leading change.
The Heart Behind Our Sustainable Venue
When The Wellbeing Farm began, the vision was simple: create a place where people could celebrate life’s biggest moments while caring for the planet and community. We wanted to show that a venue could delight guests and still make a difference. That belief has guided every decision, from how we source our food to how we manage our energy.
Every wedding, corporate event, and celebration hosted here carries that same sense of purpose. Our couples don’t just book a venue—they join a movement. They’re part of a story where confetti meets composting, fairy lights meet solar power, and celebration meets sustainability.
From Lancashire Fields to BAFTA Lights
It still feels surreal to see our name alongside major UK businesses at the Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards, held at BAFTA. To be shortlisted in the Purpose Before Profit category is an honour that captures everything we stand for.
That moment wasn’t just about us—it was a victory for every small business proving that sustainability and success go hand in hand. Rural hospitality often faces misconceptions. People think small farms can’t compete with big city venues or large corporate groups. But we’ve shown that when your values shine, your impact does too.
Building a Business That Feeds More Than Profit
Sustainability isn’t an afterthought for us—it’s the foundation. We’ve designed The Wellbeing Farm to work in harmony with nature and community. Every detail reflects conscious choices. We use renewable energy wherever possible, minimise waste, and champion local suppliers who share our ethics.
By keeping things local, we reduce transport emissions and support the Lancashire economy. Our food comes from trusted producers who care about animal welfare and quality. Our décor, props, and flowers often come from repurposed or homegrown sources. Even our quirky details—like our famous llamas and alpacas—remind guests that fun and ethics can live side by side.
What Makes a Venue Truly Sustainable?
For us, being a sustainable venue goes far beyond recycling bins. It’s about systems that last. We measure our impact, set improvement goals, and hold ourselves accountable through B Corp certification. This isn’t a badge—it’s a living standard that pushes us to evolve every year.
We look at the big picture: energy use, water conservation, waste management, staff wellbeing, and community involvement. Each part matters because true sustainability is holistic. It’s about caring for people as much as for the planet. That’s why we invest in our team, provide fair pay, and prioritise wellbeing. Happy people create happy events.
The B Corp Difference
Becoming a B Corp Certified venue changed everything for us. It gave structure to our mission and transparency to our guests. It’s proof that we balance profit with purpose every single day. Our most recent B Corp score placed us among the highest-rated hospitality venues in the UK—a reflection of the dedication behind the scenes.
But certification is only the start. Each recertification cycle challenges us to dig deeper. We review what’s working, what can improve, and how we can inspire others in our industry to follow. It’s not a tick-box exercise—it’s a journey that never stops.
Purpose Before Profit in Practice
At The Wellbeing Farm, purpose before profit isn’t a slogan—it’s the way we work. Take our approach to weddings. Instead of selling add-ons, we encourage couples to personalise sustainably. We repurpose decorations, reduce single-use plastics, and help them choose ethical suppliers. Guests leave knowing their day was joyful and kind to the planet.
Corporate clients love that same ethos. When they book meetings, away days, or team-building events here, they’re supporting a venue that gives back. From carbon-conscious catering to wellbeing-focused activities, we help organisations align their values with their events. That alignment matters more than ever as businesses face growing pressure to demonstrate social responsibility.
Recognition That Reflects Real Impact
Awards don’t define us—but they do help amplify our message. From presenting at the House of Commons to standing at BAFTA, each milestone tells the story of a small farm with a big vision. Recognition at national level proves that sustainability isn’t niche anymore—it’s essential.
Our nomination at the Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards placed us among leading UK innovators redefining what business success looks like. Being acknowledged for putting purpose before profit confirms that ethical enterprise can thrive, even in competitive sectors like hospitality.
The Human Side of Sustainability
People often think sustainability is all about policies and processes. But for us, it’s deeply human. It’s about laughter echoing through our barns, families gathering in our fields, and couples knowing their wedding made a positive difference.
We see sustainability as an act of care. Care for guests, for team members, for animals, and for the environment. Our alpacas, donkeys, and sheep aren’t gimmicks—they’re symbols of connection and balance. They remind everyone that joy and kindness can coexist beautifully.
Sustainable Hospitality Is the Future
More couples and companies are now searching for eco-conscious venues that match their values. They want places that feel genuine, where sustainability isn’t just a checkbox. That shift gives us hope for the future of rural hospitality.
As energy costs rise and climate awareness grows, sustainable venues are leading the way in creating resilient business models. Investing in renewable energy, reducing waste, and prioritising community engagement don’t just help the planet—they future-proof the business.
Joy, Community, and Legacy
At the core of everything we do lies one mission: to create joy. Sustainability doesn’t mean sacrifice—it means substance. Every smile, every toast, every dance on our farm floor contributes to something bigger. It’s a reminder that celebrations can spark change.
Our community partnerships, educational workshops, and local collaborations ensure our success ripples beyond the farm. When guests choose The Wellbeing Farm, they support local employment, ethical farming, and sustainable practices that strengthen Lancashire’s rural economy.
From Heels to Rickshaws – The Night That Said It All
Of course, we still make time for fun. After the awards at BAFTA, Liv and I ended the night in true Wellbeing Farm style—with a rickshaw ride through London! I’ll admit it was partly because I can’t stand wearing heels, but it turned into one of those spontaneous moments that capture our spirit perfectly. We celebrate with heart, humour, and a touch of mischief.
Looking Ahead to Grosvenor House
Next month we’ll head to the grand finale at Grosvenor House Hotel, where the overall winners will be announced. Whatever happens, being shortlisted already feels like a win. It’s recognition that a small rural farm can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in British business by staying true to its values.
The journey from Lancashire fields to BAFTA lights proves one powerful truth: when you build on purpose, success follows naturally. The Wellbeing Farm will continue leading by example—showing that sustainability can be joyful, community-led, and unapologetically northern.
